Echo from the Archives!

'A Walk in The Dark' a five-part police drama by Chris Boucher from 1981, is currently available to UK listeners for free at BBC Sounds.

Nicolas Courtney turns up in episode one; Peter Tuddenham takes on a role for episode 3 and Gregory de Polnay appears in episodes 4 & 5.

It's like a pre-Kaldor City team-up!

There are also some lines (or variations on such) that Boucher employed for his Doctor Who and Blake’s 7 scripts.

“You must think my head zips up the back!”

Said Colby to Fendelman during Part Two of 'Image of the Fendahl'.

“Morbid curiosity.”

This was asked of D84 by the Doctor in Part Three of 'The Robots of Death.'

“For a policeman, you lie badly.”

Kerril tells Vila “For a thief, you lie badly”, during 'City at the Edge of the World'.

“I suppose paranoia is an occupational hazard in your profession?”

This is a variant of Avon’s statement to Shrinker “Paranoia is the occupational hazard of the torturer,” from 'Rumours of Death'.

“Perhaps you'd give me your professional opinion as to what this is?”

Is a version of Avon’s line to Dayna “I want your professional opinion of that”, during 'Rescue'.

As for the play itself?

It's well cast, nicely produced and the writing is good!

MASSACRE

Once again, the industrious Chrisi Pashley provides the narration and detailed sound design for Prelude, a short story by David Tulley.

This was originally scripted as a teaser for the full cast Blake’s 7 adventure, The Mark of Kane (available as part of the Ultimate Download Megapack).

As it stands, I'm sure that many of you will recognise how the themes of this story have a keen resonance with current world events.

To listen to this new production, which also features a startling appearance from Brian Croucher as Space Commander Travis, simply click on the first link above for your FREE download.

The Magic Bullet team would also like to extend their thanks to artist Timothy Stephen Keable, for providing a superbly visceral illustration to complement this release.
